Name: Most of my friends call me Mel, but I hear it all. Meliss, Doss, Dossy, hey you, smelly Melly, and my mom calls me Ms. Priss. Apparently I was prissy when I was young. Ha!
Something interesting about yourself?: I am a full time family law attorney and opened my own practice on October 2, 2015, after a life changing experience caused me to make a change in my life. This has been a year full of learning experiences and I’ve loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to continue growing my practice, my passion, and see where it leads me!
Where do you train?: Lately I’ve been training a lot of my home gym because of convenience. When I’m not training in my barn, I train at Crossfit the Tracks and have been a member and coach there since 2014.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?: My first official Crossfit class was on April 1, 2012. I started Crossfit on a three month groupon and fully expected to quit after! Here I am 4 and a half years later and still loving it.
How many times a week do you work out?: I train 5 days a week, with at least two rest days.
What is your diet like? I started working with a nutritionist earlier this year because my body was feeling under fueled. I ate what I wanted but it just wasn’t enough. I don’t follow a strict plan (that would never work for me!!) but I do eat 5-6 times a day to ensure that my body has enough fuel for busy days and long workouts. What has helped me the most is adding in extra fuel following training sessions and making a smoothie full of good for you fat every single night before bed. Fuel is so key!
What is your favorite exercise or named CrossFit workout?: I’d say Grace or Randy. I am a huge fan of short, barbell heavy workouts! They are so mentally tough but over before you know it.
What is your favorite WodBottom product?: I love the rings! My husband used to give me such a hard time for taking my ring off at the gym and forgetting to put it back on. Now, I have a ring on at all times and never worry about it getting scratched up.
